ABOUT US

The Owners

Owners Sonya and David Mastick are both professional musicians who have also been instructors. Combined they have 50 years of recording, live, and touring experience.

David has been a musician for 30 years, a bass instructor for over 12 years and has toured all over the country with various bands. He has studied with Victor Wooten, Gary Willis, Dave LaRue and Steve Bailey. He has also performed or recorded with Barrett Strong, Kirk Whalum, Faruq Z. Bey, James "Blood" Ulmer, Thornetta Davis, Jim McCarty, Johnny 'B' Badanjek and Hugo Ferreira of Tantric.

Sonya worked for Clear Channel for 12 years, as a rock n roll booking agent for 3 years, has played drums for almost 20 years, has been a hired gun for the past 10 years and even recorded with such legends as Motown’s writer and recording artist Barrett Strong.

With all of this history, it is fair to say that they understand both the needs of the students and instructors. The Lesson Rooms are spacious, well lit, not cluttered with merchandise, have individual climate control, and are clean.

Our Policy

The Mastick’s run The Lesson Rooms believing in a simple principle; give the students what they want without draining their wallets. We know that no two people are the same, therefore; no two curriculums should be the same. In short, you get to help with setting your goals and setting up your own curriculum, even if that means not having one. Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Music should be expressive and fun!
